My first of many lists! Here are 20 randomly awesome facts about me:

1. I got my name from my older sister's childhood imaginary friend

2. I have four tattoos

3. I have worked at 10+ places since I was 16

4. I have my CDL and drive a school bus (I guess that's two facts?)

5. I act like I don't care about celebrity gossip, but check Perez Hilton on the regular

6. My toenails are painted neon barbie pink 24/7

7. I am awful at math. It is something I openly admit, but am extremely embarrassed about.

8. If I hear a new song I like, I listen to it on repeat until I'm sick of it. I have no idea why.

9. I don't really have a favorite color

10. I still love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I even have an action figure on my desk at work!)
My birthday cake from this year - Thanks, Mom!
11. I am a hopeless romantic

12. I can't stand spaghetti. I don''t care if your Mom or Grandma's recipe is the best on the planet - I refuse to try it. Sorry I'm not sorry.

13. I love to make people laugh

14. I can talk to groups of kids or a small group of friends all day every day, but put me in front of a large group of peers/adults and I turn into an awkward, stammering idiot.

15. Once upon a time, I was a Hooters girl (No judgement, please!)

16. Before my family moved to North Carolina, we lived in Smithfield, Virginia (It's the ham capitol of the world). Seriously - you can Google it.

17. If I am bringing food to a potluck event, I get weirdly competitive. My dish has to be a best dish there.

18. I'm scared of heights, but I love riding roller coasters... Front row, please and thank you!

19. I love cheese. Doesn't matter what kind it is or what it is on/in - I am an equal opportunity cheese enthusiast.

20. My parents and my sister are three of my closest friends and I'm proud to say that.

Easy like Sunday morning

I can't even find the words to explain how much I love waking up and hearing rain. It's been a lazy, overcast, drizzly morning so far and I am in heaven.. and still in bed.

Yep. Eating chocolate chip cookies and milk. I probably shouldn't mention that this is the second day in a row that I've had this for breakfast.
It's summer!
I don't know how that makes it any more acceptable, but let's just go with it.

My morning has been equal parts lazy/amazing and has gone a little something like this:

Woke up and had a delicious and healthy breakfast in bed.

Tried to pretend that I didn't hear the annoying beep from my smoke alarm because it is 30,000 feet in the air and there is no way those batteries will get changed until the boyfriend or dad get back to town. I'm doing a pretty decent job of tuning it out - Gatsby on the other hand is hiding in my bathroom and whining. : (

I won a super awesome skirt on Ebay!
This is the first thing I've ever won on Ebay and I got it for a great price. Jcrew pencil skirts are incredible, but are just a little pricey for me. (I'm obsessed with this citron color though. Must. Stay. Away.)
So needless to say, I am just a little EXCITED! : D
It is such a cute color and I can't wait for it to get here so I can plan out a million work outfits!

Looked back at a friend's blog earlier and found a cute list of 30 things.
(Original credit goes to Hopes & Dreams)
It seems like the perfect way to kick start my blogging. You can learn a little more about me and I can get used to all of this. It's a win win, right?

Since I'm still hanging out with my bum knee, I'm planning on doing one of these lists every day. Let's see how that goes...

My very first blog!

I did it. I finally did it.

I had been thinking about starting a blog for quite some time but I just never got around to it.
Shocker.

But the other week I twisted my knee (more on that later) so I've been spending a lot of time with my leg propped up in bed and my face glued to my laptop.
It started with stalking everyone I've ever met on Facebook, which then led to planning my non-existent wedding on Pinterest and then I fell deep, deep into the black hole that is YouTube.

If you don't know what Prancercise is, your life is incomplete. Trust me on this.

But I'm getting sidetracked...

Between three jobs, going to school and attempting to have a social life - my days can get a little hectic. So I wanted to start a blog to combine all of my favorite things. Tasty recipes, clothes, things that make me laugh, crafts, my dog's crazy antics and other random stuff that goes on in my life.

--------------------------------------------------------------

If you don't know me, I work as a teacher's assistant at an elementary school and I absolutely love it. The kids can be a little crazy, but they make me laugh every day and always keep me on my toes. I am still going to school (part time) so that I can eventually have my own classroom and assistant. Even though I get tired of juggling work and school, I'm thankful for all the experience I'm getting along the way. By the time I have my first group of kiddos to teach, I feel like I'll be able to handle any crazy that is thrown my way.

That being said - IT'S SUMMER!!!

My absolute favorite time of the year! Flip flops, sundresses, lazy days at the beach, sleeping in, kayaking, drinking cold beer outside with friends - I could go on and on about all the reasons why I love summer. Unfortunately, about 2 1/2 weeks in to this summer, I twisted my knee. : ( The first Doctor I saw said she thinks I tore a ligament so now I'm on crutches and waiting to go see an Orthopedist on the 10th. Fingers crossed it isn't anything too serious and I'll just need more rest and at the most some physical therapy. But for now, this has been my view

I'm making an effort to not let the crutches or awesome knee brace slow me down too much, though. Justin (the boyfriend) and I went to a shrimp boil last Friday night at a friend's house and it was my duty to bring dessert. Naturally I started searching Pinterest for a quick and easy dessert that could be eaten outside with little to no mess. Which is how I came across Onderland or Bust and her Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs recipe.
YUM.
I used her recipe as starting point, but my knee pain and a bad case of the lazies made me resort to shortcuts. So if you want something a little more homemade (and probably healthier) then you might want to stick with hers. Anyways - holy cow, these turned out so good. They literally took minutes to prepare but looked and tasted amazing! I didn't take pictures during the process (Can you tell I'm new to blogging?) so all I have this time is the end result. Oh well!

--------------------------------------------------------------

What you need:

Shish-kabob sticks
2lbs fresh strawberries (washed and cut into bite sized pieces)
Pound Cake (Thanks, Sara Lee!)
Melting chocolate (I used Baker's melting chocolate)

Directions:

1. Cut strawberries and pound cake into bite size pieces
2. Alternate strawberries and pound cake pieces on kabob sticks, place on tinfoil or wax paper
3. Heat chocolate according to package directions and drizzle it all over your kabobs
4. Let chocolate harden (you can stick them in the freezer for a minute or two to speed this up)
flip and repeat #3
5. Serve your kabobs and listen to everyone talk about how amazing they are

All in all, I was extremely pleased with how these turned out. Quick, easy, cheap and tasty - I couldn't really ask for a better dessert! I hope you enjoy them too!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I have a lazy pup cuddled up next to me so I think I'm going to call it a night. I'm pretty excited about this whole blogging thing, so hopefully I'll keep it up and people will actually read it! : )
